Ralph owned and operated a carpentry shop for 30 years in the Shenandoah Valley where he repaired and made accurate reproductions of 18th- and 19th-century American furniture.

From the spring of 1966 until he retired in October 1978 he devoted his talents to the care of historic furniture for the National Park Service at Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.

Identified in 2015 by R. Mowery who remembered the subject worked for the National Park Service in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.
Information about his work came from page 352 of an on-line book about the activities at Harpers Ferry and posted by the National Park Service called, "Conservation of Cultural and Scientific Objects".
