Her parents were Wayde Hampton Pence, Jr. and Elva Mae "Essie" (Nichols) Pence.
She was from the Mt. Jackson area and graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1967.
She married Carroll Martin Rudy in 1968. He was also from Mt. Jackson, the son of Raymond Alexander Rudy, Jr. and Dorothy Frances (Beaver) Rudy.
The image on the left has a mark at the top where the photographer noted which of the two images he planned to print.
