Description

Eight railroad employees are posed beside their passenger train number 1348.

Identified are (l to r): Larry Mundy, conductor; C.R. Wetsel, extra fireman; E. Garvin, engineer; Harold Mauney, train master; Charles Chandler, agent; Omar Evans, fireman; G.C. Steadman, baggage master; and Douglas Bly, flagman.

The photographer has written, "Strasburg Va, Oct. 20th 1941" at the bottom right of the image. Most likely, this is the last passenger train to run through the Strasburg Depot before Southern Railway ended that service on October 25, 1941.

This photograph was used as page 119 in the book, "Strasburg Community Memories" by C. Douglas Cooley, published in 1999.
