Elizabeth "Lizzy" (Shaffer) Foltz and her husband, Irvin Foltz, both with glasses, are standing outdoors and posed on either side of two chickens.
Lizzy was born in Page County, the daughter of John William and Frances Catherine (Varner) Shaffer. Irvin is the son of Jacob Ashby (or in some records, John Ashby) & Anna Florence (Huffman) Foltz. The couple married on June 28, 1922, in Page County, Virginia.
They lived on their farm in Page County for many years. Together, they raised a son, Max Shaffer Foltz, and three daughters, Dorothy Nell (Foltz) Kelley, Irma Bell (Foltz) Sellers, and Margret Claire (Foltz) Yancey.
Lizzy was the sister of V.S. Shaffer, a former Shenandoah County representative to the State House of Delegates and a poultry business innovator.

The couple in the photo are Elizabeth "Lizzy" (Shaffer) Foltz and her husband Irvin Foltz. They had a farm near Leaksville, Page County. Circa 1948.
Lizzy is the sister of VS Shaffer. VS lived with his family in Maurertown, was a former Shenandoah County representative to the State House of Delegates and a poultry business innovator.
