Title

First National Bank in Strasburg

Subject

Banks - Virginia - Strasburg
Strasburg (Va)

Description

Photograph taken during construction (ca 1929) of the First National Bank located on the corner of King and Holliday Streets in Strasburg.

Four unidentified men in suits and hats are standing in front of the door. An early automobile is parked on the left.

The original "Virginia Restaurant" is visible on the right behind the bank building. The sign reads, "Virginia Restaurant" with "Brill & Brill" printed beneath.

It was later torn down to make room for the drive-through and parking lot of First Bank.

By then, the restaurant had moved across Holliday to front on King Street. There, it became a popular spot for high school students and local residents.

This photograph was used on page 40 of the book, "Strasburg Community Memories" by C. Douglas Cooley, published in 1999.
