Eleonor was the daughter of George Benjamin and Laura June (Moffett) Holtzman.

Fred was from Iowa, the son of Anthony Conrad and Alpha Josephine (Lindmark) Frederickson. He was an Entomologist when they married.

The couple married in Mount Jackson in 1939.
