Betty was born in Washington D.C., the daughter of John Preston and Kathryn Romaine (Coffman) Fravel.
She was a member of the first graduating class from Central High School in Woodstock in 1960 and a graduate of the L.P.N. program at Triplett Business and Technical Institute in Mt. Jackson.
She worked as an L.P.N. at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital and Skyline Terrace Nursing Home.
She never married.
The image on the right has a mark at the top where the photographer noted which of the two images he planned to print.
