The couple were from Strasburg Virginia.
John Wayne Orndorff, Sr. was a veteran of the U.S Army having served as a Sargent in Vietnam with the Fourth Infantry. He worked as a purchasing agent with Chemstone prior to his retirement.
The couple had at least three sons together: John Wayne Orndorff II and Paul Michael Orndorff. Their third son, Thomas, died in 1982.
The image on the right has a mark at the top where the photographer noted which of the two images he planned to print.
