Description

Photo of an older photograph of Sylvanus and Virginia (Showman) Mumaw with six of their children. Another child of theirs, William H. Mumaw, died in 1879, only 2 years old, and well before this photograph was taken.

Identified (l to r) are: Romanus "Pete" Mumaw, Gertie (Mumaw) Dellinger, John Mumaw, Bertha "Bertie" (Mumaw) Baker, Lydia (Mumaw) Coffman, Mary Frances "Molly" (Mumaw) Funkhouser, Virginia (Showman) Mumaw, and Sylvanus Mumaw.

The original photograph was taken in 1904. This copy was made later, circa 1942.

Sylvanus and Virginia married in 1874. They farmed near Conicville all their lives. Both are buried in Conicville, as are most of their children.

Identified by Diane Miller Warren, who had the same photo at home along with a second photo taken the same day with the same people, but also including her mother, who was then a 3-4 month old baby, born in March 1904.
