Viola (Polk) Moomaw was born in Conicville, one of at least nine children of Noah Frederick (1977-1945) and Martha Susan (Miller) (1880-1957) Polk. She was a member of the St. Jacob Lutheran Church.
Her husband was Earnest Adam Moomaw (1919-1962), son of Earl Russell and Lillian (Arion) Moomaw. He was born in Washington D.C. When Viola married in 1941, Earnest was in the Army.
The 1950 census found the couple living with Viola’s widowed mother and others in the Ashby District of Shenandoah County.
Viola had three children: Elaine, Earnest and Alan Moomaw.
