Title

Helen Seal Ambrose

Subject

Ambrose, Helen Seal (1930-2000)

Description

Portrait of Helen Seal as a young woman.

Helen Seal was the daughter of Otis L. and Daisy M. Seal. She had two brothers, Harold and Charles. She grew up in Woodstock and the 1950 census found her there as a 19-year old “office worker” still living with her parents.

At some point after that, she married Billy Irvin Ambrose (1925-1980). Billy was also from Woodstock and his parents were Keller James and Lottie (Emerson) Ambrose. Billy had served in the U.S. Army during WWII. They had at least one daughter, Deborah Susan Ambrose, together.

Helen and her family were living in Waynesboro, Virginia, when Billy died of cancer. At the time of his death, he worked as an Assistant Comptroller of the Waynesboro Community Hospital. He was buried in Mount Jackson.

Helen lived another twenty years and when she died, she was living in Knoxville, Tennessee.
