She was born in Hardy County, West Virginia, the daughter of Abraham Abner "Abe" (1854-1939) and Francelia (Mathias) (1855-1915) Whitmer.
She was the second wife of Samuel James Frye, whom she married in 1912. After he died, she married again in 1937 to Edward Windle (1876-1947).
She and Edward are buried in Alonzaville, Shenandoah County.
