Carrie was the daughter of Charles Courtland and Hilda May (Lutz) Bowman. She went to Edinburg High School and married "the boy next door", Paul Pence Wisman, in 1949. The couple married in Edinburg where they had both grown up together.
At the time of her marriage, Carrie worked as a teacher.
She and her husband raised five children together and lived in Lynchburg, Virginia, for many years.
The name, "Caroline B. Wisman", is written on the glass plate.
