Both Jack and Nancy were educators in Shenandoah County. Nancy grew up in Maurertown.
She and Jack married in 1962.
Jack taught school at Central High School, Stonewall High School, and Clarke County High School. He served on the football coaching staff at all three schools, coached little league baseball and helped establish Senior League Baseball in Shenandoah County. After a thirty year teaching career he farmed until poor health forced him to quit.
