A similar image to these was used as her senior class picture in the 1964 Stonewall Jackson High School yearbook.
She was born in Delaware, the daughter of William Wesley and Virginia Frances (Lloyd) Powers.
A few months after high school, she married James Michael Allen, a bookkeeper from Mt. Jackson. That marriage did not last.
In 1987, she married Orville Lee Smoot. Both Elaine and Orville lived in Edinburg when they married.
