Subject
Soldiers - United States - Virginia - Shenandoah County
Description
Photo of two separate photographs of an unidentified young man in a U.S. Army uniform seated beside an unidentified woman and young child.
His shoulder patch indicates he was a member of the 1st Signal Brigade (part of the Army's Strategic Communications Command). The patch was used during the Vietnam War era. He is also wearing a unit award, National Defense Medal, and parachutist wings.
Probably, this was a family photograph.

The male in the uniform's 1st Signal Brigade patch upon his right shoulder indicates he may have deployed to a combat zone. He wears Signal branch insignia, a unit award, a National Defense Medal, two other ribbons, and parachutists' wings, indicating he was Airborne qualified. Interestingly, he does not have an Overseas Service Bar afixed to his uniform, despite the positioning of his 1st Signal Brigade Patch in the Former Wartime Service / Military Operations in Hostile Conditions-location.
