Louis Joseph Burner
Woodstock native. Entered the US Army on July 13 1917. Trained at Camp Hancock Georgia and deployed to France on May 27, 1918.
Involved in the Advance on Ourcq and the Meuse Argonne Offensive, which was the most deadly of those involving US troops. Gassed at Chateau Thierry in July of 1918. Promoted to the rank of Corporal and awarded the Victory Medal with 5 bars.
Discharged May 16, 1919 at Camp Dix New Jersey. Post-war occupation, Post Office Clerk.
