Woodstock native. Joined the US Army Field Artillery on September 18, 1917. Trained at Camp Jackson, South Carolina.

Served in the European Theatre of Operations. Attained the rank of Corporal. Discharged June 20, 1919 at Camp Lee Virginia. Postwar occupation, farmer.
