Paul Franklin was the son of Charles Franklin (1877-1953) and Grace Mae (Munch) (1885-1956) Plauger. Evelyn O. McClanahan was the daughter of Mertie Edgar and Maude Estella (Clem) McClanahan. Both families were from Fort Valley.
They married in Woodstock on April 20, 1938, when Paul was working for a steamship company and Evelyn was just 16 years old.
