He married in 1944, in Strasburg, when he was 19-years old. His wife was Helen (Middleton) Ritenour (1925-1998). Together, the couple raised three daughters: Connie (Ritenour) Hawkins, Linda (Ritenour) Vann, and Donna (Ritenour) Gillingwatch.
