He served in Sampson and Brooklyn New York, and in Portland Oregon. He also served aboard the SS Lyman Abbott and the SS Jones Monroe.
William was born in Alexandria, Virginia, on March 1, 1926. He was working in the spinning room at the American Viscose Plant in Front Royal when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September 1943.
At the end of his naval service, he was married and lived at 200 Sharpe Street in Strasburg where he hoped to return to his job at American Viscose.
This document lists his medals as: the European Theater Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal.
