Pvt. Herman J. Rupert, pictured in his U.S. Army uniform. He was the son of Mrs. Ethel Rupert Weaver of Mt. Jackson, Virginia. Pvt. Rupert served his country but was killed in France on July 6, 1944, at the age of 21 years.

Heck graduated in 1927. That year's school yearbook noted his nickname was "Heque."
