Photograph of William "Bill" D. Johnson in his U.S. Army uniform and seated beside his wife, Gladys Ellen (Ritenour) Johnson. Their young son, Jerrol A. Johnson, is posed between them.

Bill was a son of Charles Archie and Clara L. (Cave) Johnson. Gladys was the daughter of Charles A. and Amy Lois (Munch) Ritenour. Both Bill and Gladys were born and grew up in Seven Fountains, Fort Valley, Virginia. They married in 1942.

Their son, Jerrol, died when he was only 3 years old. He was buried in Detrick Cemetery and on his headstone is engraved, "He was the sunshine of our home."

The name, "Wm Johnson", is written on the glass plate.
